Thank you, I Am Studios, for sharing!
It is so important that we normalize these types of conversations. Being aware of and understanding such camouflaged threats can allow us to better equip ourselves and guide our youth. Human trafficking lurks in our very own backyards, and it comes in a variety forms.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, "Traffickers might use the following methods to lure victims into trafficking situations:
Violence
Manipulation
False promises of well-paying jobs
Romantic relationships."
Individuals who live in poverty, experience language barriers, fear police and law enforcement, are victims of natural disasters, and others are primary targets of human trafficking.
Imagine experiencing undue hardships or life trauma only to have someone prey on your vulnerabilities.
Let's not only have safety conversations with our friends, family, peers, and community, but let's come together to create a safe space for victims to escape to freedom and start anew.
